Connie J. (Lake) Dorow
HILLSBORO, WI – Constance “Connie” Joy (Lake) Dorow, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026. She was born September 18, 1951, in Ishpeming, MI, to John R. and Joyce V. (Turovaara) Lake.
She attended Ishpeming High School and graduated with the class of 1969. After high school Connie attended Northern Michigan University and graduated with a college degree in teaching. After she graduated from college, she found the love of her life, Steven Dorow, whom she married on March 9, 1974.
Her teaching career started in Escanaba, MI, where she taught for a couple of years before her and Steven moved to Lower Michigan so he could attend medical school. During this time Connie held many jobs taking care of children. Eventually the couple moved to Wisconsin where she began to help teach, but before she could earn her Wisconsin teaching license, the couple was on the move again. They finally settled in Hillsboro, WI, and Connie was able to earn her Wisconsin teaching license. She continued teaching in Hillsboro for nearly 30 years.
She is survived by her brothers; Robert D. (Willow) Lake and Randy Lake; her niece, Carol (Jason) Lundy; nephews, Robert S. Lake, William J. Lake (Chris Kulju), and Scott A. Lake (Casey Migacz); great-nieces, Carmen, Cloe Lundy, Abagail Lake; great-nephews, Miles Lundy and Everett Lake; a daughter at heart, Ashley Barnes; brother-in-law, Mark (Colleen) Dorow; her friend, Dianne (Delmas) Malcomb; cousin, Judy Pietrocatelli; and many good friends in Hillsboro, WI.
She was preceded in death by her husband Steven Dorow; her parents, John R. and Joyce V. (Turovaara) Lake; paternal grandparents, John and Helmi Lake; maternal grandparents, Frank and Ida Turovaara; and her in-laws, Carl and Betty Dorow.
A celebration of her life will be held in Elroy, WI, at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
