Born on April 11, 1954, the daughter of James and Derelyls (Beth) Aylward, Mary was raised in Marquette, she was a proud fourth-generation redhead whose fiery spirit and honest nature were known and loved by many. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1972 and went on to attend Northern Michigan University, where she pursued theater and fine arts. Continuing her education, she attended U.P. Beauty School in Marquette, earning her Manicurist License. Mary made history as the first practicing and licensed manicurist in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, specializing in porcelain nails.

The two were united in marriage on July 6, 1984, and together they built a home and raised their family in Marquette.

Mary had a gifted artistic soul. She brought joy to many through her photography business, capturing treasured moments for her clients for years. Beyond photography, she immersed herself in fine arts and crafts, including acrylic painting, quilting, and sewing. She was an exceptionally talented seamstress whose creativity and attention to detail were evident in every piece she made.

Mary had a deep love for animals, gardening, and her beautiful flowers. She enjoyed boating, camping, nature walks, and reading. She valued true and honest friendships and was known for speaking her mind, she never sugar-coated anything, and those who knew her appreciated her authenticity and strength.
