Ann Bernard Roberts
Ann Bernard Roberts passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, at home with her family.
Ann was born July 8, 1935, in Marquette, MI to Lowell and Gertrude (Miller) Bernard, who both preceded her in death.
Ann graduated from Negaunee High School in 1953, went on to attend Michigan State College before attaining a Bachelor of Science degree, graduating with honor, from Northern Michigan College in 1957.
Ann then began her teaching career in Champion, MI, later moving to teach at the Lakeview School in Negaunee, MI, where she taught for many years.
In the late 1970s, Ann then took ownership of The Yankee Peddler, where she bought and sold antiques until she retired in 1995.
Ann enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an excellent cook and knew how to throw a party. She loved being a host, her family and friends were everything to her. Her specialties included Tortiere (french pork pie), pasties, and sweet and savory cream puffs. Inviting and welcoming anyone at anytime at her home in Marquette or her cottage on Mehl Lake, nobody left Ann’s hungry.
In retirement Ann spent her time with David Delayre in St. Ignace. They volunteered in the kitchen at the Moose Lodge and enjoyed many evenings together at The Galley. Ann also volunteered at the St. Ignace Public Library reading to children for afternoon story hour.
Preceding Ann in death was her step father Henry J Choquette (1955), and the love of her life, David Delarye (2012) who she enjoyed 20 plus years with after reconnecting later in life.
Surviving Ann are her daughter, Gretchen (Robinson) and her husband Thomas, her granddaughter, Madeline Ann McDonnell, and many cousins and special friends.
A gathering for the celebration of Ann’s life will be announced at a later date.
