Wayne L. Wilder, 64, of Marquette, died Saturday, February 14, 2026 at his home.
He was born August 16, 1961, in Marquette, a son of William L. and Marcella G. (Parker) Wilder, Sr. and was raised there.
In his youth, Wayne worked as a tree planter in southern states. He then began a career with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a Park Ranger at the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area then at Van Riper State Park in Champion where he worked for several years. He later was employed in maintenance at Walmart and following the produce section at Meijer.
Wayne’s love for the outdoors was his church. He found peace in the woods and greatest joy in hunting alongside his daughter, Jaimie and grandson Gavin. He also enjoyed fishing and four wheeler adventures.
He is survived by his daughter, Jaimie (Ben) Peterson of Marquette; grandchildren, Gavin, Eli and Oliver Peterson; siblings, William “Billie” (Wendy) Wilder of Fithian, IL, Wendy Wernholm of Negaunee and Wally Wilder of Negaunee; nieces & nephews; and beloved dog companion, Zeus. He was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse, Teresa Wilder; brother-in-law, Darryl Wernholm; and sister-in-law, Pam Wilder.
A celebration of life will be held on February 28, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Sands Township Hall.
