James H. Bosley

MUNISING- James Henry Bosley, age 87, of Munising, died Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Medilodge of Munising. He was born on July 24, 1938 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie to the late Henry and Margorie Hazel (Oberlin) Bosley. Jim worked at a variety of jobs starting at the ripe age of eight or nine where he shined shoes and sold newspapers on the streets of Soo and back and forth on the ferry boat between Sault Michigan and Canada. Next, he had two or three paper routes and froze in the winter months especially on collection Saturdays. In his mid-teens, Jim worked briefly at Soo Office Supply, Maltas and Flood Drug Stroe, and the Flower Shop. In between those scheduled jobs, Jim would earn spending money by loading wood or coal from the pile outside into the basements of homes for 50 cents per ton of coal, shoveling snow, and selling nightcrawlers.

Jim graduated from Sault Ste. Marie High School in 1956 and entered into the United States Navy. While in the Navy he met Myra Cable and they were married on October 13, 1961 and together they raised their daughter Debbie, and she was the center of their lives. Jim was honorably discharged in October of 1964 as an AQ1 (Aviation Fire Control Technician, Petty Officer 1st Class) and was awarded a Navy Unit Commendation. They lived in the Springfield, Missouri area for many years. Jim worked for 16 years in a middle management position for a trucking company, and in 1981 he started working for a mobile home park which he eventually owned and operated. He and Myra also had a small farm where they raised cattle. Between 1981 and 2005, Jim and Myra made eleven trips in their motor home to spend the summers on the Kenai River in Alaska, these were the best of times. In 1998, Myra was diagnosed with cancer which she battled for many years before succumbing to her illness. Jim then decided to move back to the U.P. where he met Sylvia Bray at the Moose Lodge and they were inseparable ever since. They were married on December 26, 2005. Jim worked at Family Fare in the meat department and drove bus for Altran for many years. He also volunteered at the Moose Lodge and drove for the Upper Peninsula Health Plan.
