Dennis ‘Gubba’ Liquia

SUOMI, MI- Dennis Alan ‘Gubba’ Liquia, 80, of Midway Location, passed away Thursday evening, February 5, 2026 at his home while in the care of his loving family.

Gubba was born August 11, 1945 in Palmer to Philip and Louise (LaMere) Liquia, attended school in Palmer and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1963. He was a self-employed builder and roofer for many years.

Gubba was a member of the Richmond Township Community Club and played in pool league for the Cascade Bar. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.

Surviving are his daughters: Dawn (John) Niemi of Felch, and Shelli Liquia of Portage, WI; his four grandchildren: Jody (Mike Gilstorff) Walsh, Nichole (Michael) Freas, Darry (Cheyenne) Helenius and Serena Bivins; eight great-grandchildren: Lilli, Emily, Haili, Kaidance, Michael, Elijah, Jaxon and Dante; his significant other: Jackie Madosh, her children: Kelli, Ken, Kari, and Kristi; her grandchildren: Maleaha, Avah, Garrett, Marlie, Piper, Josie, and Iris; one sister: Betty Vadnais; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Potvin) Liquia on February 6, 2004; an infant daughter, Sherri; three brothers: Lowell, Edward ‘Tuttle’ and Roland; and four sisters: Muriel Glavin, Shirley Arnold, Mary Lou Fraley and Carol Lahnanen; and one great granddaughter: Kayla Gilstorff.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Richmond Township Community Club beginning at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
