William Michael ‘Billy’ Gravedoni

Billy was born January 5, 1941 in North Lake to Charles and Ernestine (Forchini) Gravedoni and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1958. He then attended Michigan Tech University to complete his certification to be a diesel mechanic. Billy began his career with Cleveland Cliffs, working numerous jobs at various locations. He retired from the Tilden Mine with over 30 years of service with CCI. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Negaunee Fire Department.

Billy married Suann December in 1995 and they moved to Florida where they resided for 27 years. They returned to the UP three years ago to be close to family. Billy enjoyed antique car shows and auctions, riding his motorcycle, and spending time visiting with his siblings, children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Suann; two sons: Steve (Janeen) and Billy (Wendy) Gravedoni, both of Ishpeming; one daughter, Brandi Sue Denk of Ishpeming; six beloved grandchildren: Troy Rinne, Sean and Evan (Kylene) Gravedoni, Katie and Tony Gravedoni, and Lauri Saldana; great-grandchildren, Kaiya Schultz and Maria Kasbohm; three brothers: Charles ‘Clark’ (Pat), Paul (Peggy), and Daniel Gravedoni; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laurie Rinne; step-son, Shane December; three brothers: James, Gerald and Joseph; three sisters: Elizabeth ‘Dolly’ Herman, Mildred Perry and Judy Jarvi.
