Ronald Joseph Zinski
GWINN MI – Ronald Joseph Zinski, age 78, of Gwinn, passed away on January 11, 2026 at UP Health System Marquette.
He was born on January 3, 1948, the son of James and Delores (Dupras) Zinski, Ron was raised in Marquette, Michigan, where he graduated from high school before continuing his education. Following high school, Ron attended college and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Ron was drafted into the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was deployed twice during his service. After being honorably discharged, Ron returned to Marquette and began working at the Marquette Power Plant, where he worked for several years.
In 1987, Ron married the love of his life, Monika Siegrist. After his time at the power plant, Ron and Monika moved to New York, where they made their home for the next 30 years. During this time, Ron worked for Westinghouse and later for IBM, from which he eventually retired. Following his retirement, the couple returned to Marquette, where Ron spent his later years.
Ron was a very talented mechanic who loved working on motorcycles and cars. He especially enjoyed spending time in his garage and going on motorcycle rides. Ron and Monika also enjoyed traveling and taking vacations together. He was known as a sweet, gentle, and kind man, good with people and always willing to lend a helping hand. Ron was simply a good person all around, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Ron is survived by his wife, Monika; his children, Scott (Nicole) Baker of Negaunee, Joseph Zinski of Gwinn, and Christopher Zinski of Iowa; and his grandchildren, Maxwell Zinski, Zyler Zinski, Bella Zinski, Kaliyah Zinski, Cody Baker, Michael Baker. He is also survived by his stepbrothers, Randy Arvey and Terry Arvey, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim Zinski.
Honoring Ron’s request, no public services will be held.
