Paul Bernard Jacobson

NEGAUNEE, MI- Paul B. ‘Jake’ Jacobson, 80, of Negaunee, passed away January 8, 2026 in Marquette at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans where he had resided since August of 2025.

Jake was born March 8, 1945 in Orange, California. He graduated from Fairchild High School in Fairchild, Wisconsin, Class of 1963, and from Marquette University in 1967 where he met the love of his life, Mary, at a mixer. They were married in September of 1968. Jake went on to join the United States Air Force and served at Kinchloe Air Force Base, Michigan and at Murphy Dome Air Force Base, Alaska. Following his service to his country, he was employed by the Small Business Administration where he worked for 30 years.

Jake loved to cook, especially for his family for Sunday night dinners. He was heavily involved in Negaunee Little League and served as both the president and as a coach and was instrumental in getting the Little League sanctioned. He and Mary started their own antique business “Some Ole Stuff Antiques” that allowed him to spend time finding additions to his antiques and baseball card and memorabilia collection. In his free time, Jake enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing and spending time in the woods on âthe 40ã with his boys and grandkids.

Jake was an avid Green Bay Packers and Negaunee Miners fan, never missing a game. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren participate in sports at Negaunee throughout his lifetime and was a proud supporter of Miners athletics. He also found great enjoyment watching his boys coach with success at Negaunee. In the fall, Jake’s competitive side was brought out by fantasy football and a passion for the pigskin. His favorite place in the world was at camp on the deck with a good cigar.

He is survived by his wife Mary (Gleason) Jacobson; his sons, Paul (Pam) and Kevin (Becky) Jacobson, both of Negaunee; and five grandchildren: Luke (Liesl) Jacobson, Allyson (Bryce) White, Gavin, Maddyson, and Ty Jacobson all of Negaunee; sisters: Mary (Rick) Neff of Juneau, Wisconsin, and Therese (Kirk) Harmes of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; brothers: John (Gary) Jacobson of Middleton, Wisconsin, and David (Danelle) of Sparta, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law: Joanne (George) Miljour of Negaunee, Phyllis Palmer of Negaunee, and brother-in-law Philip (Joni) Gleason of Negaunee; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia and Vernon Jacobson; Mary’s parents, Mary and Philip Gleason; his grandson, Nathan Jacobson; and two brothers-in-law, David Palmer and Pete Ducoli.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 13th at St. Paul Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM with Rev. Emmanuel Barwuah officiating. Following Mass, a luncheon will be held in the St. Paul Gymnasium. Jake’s grandchildren and spouses will serve as pallbearers. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Jake’s memory to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
