Melany J. (Arntsen) Nelson

She was born on January 7, 1969, in Alabama and lived most of her life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Jean and Ron Arntsen.

Melany was a 1987 graduate of the Interlochen Center for the Arts where she was able to foster her love for dancing and in Melanyás quest for lifelong learning, she attended several different universities which inspired her to teach throughout her life.

Despite her own health issues, Melany moved back home in 2022 to help care for her mother. Following a week long hospitalization, Melany was able to return home and enjoy several days with her closest friends and her beloved dogs, Kiki and Simon by her side.

Melany is survived by the loves of her life, her cousin, Mackenzie (Nathan) DeLuca and their son, PJ of Marquette; her closest friend, Beverly Rosin of Negaunee; loving aunt and uncle, Sharon & Gene Arntsen of Marquette and several other friends and family members.

Following Melanyás wishes, there will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be directed in Melany’s name to the ASPCA or a local animal shelter of your choosing.
