Madeline Margaret “Maggie” McDaniels

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI Madeline Margaret McDaniels, age 72, affectionately known as “Maggie,” walked on into eternity on Friday, January 2, 2026, at her home, in the loving and comforting care of her family.

Maggie was born July 20, 1953, in Marquette, a daughter of Richard C. and Elsie S. (Ketchum) Madosh. Her early years were spent being raised in various households, and she attended school at Graveraet and briefly in Gwinn.

She married and began raising her family as a stay-at-home mom. Throughout the rest of her life, family would be her sole priority. Childrenäher own, along with many nieces and nephewsäwere drawn to her caring, kind, loving, wise and nurturing presence. On July 21, 1979, Maggie was united in marriage to Ron McDaniels, who was then serving in the United States Air Force. For the next several years, she traveled with him to his duty assignments. Following Ron’s honorable discharge in 1981, the family resided in various locations including Skandia, California, Marquette, Kincheloe, and eventually returned to Marquette, where they settled in their home on Center Street for the past 36 years.

With her life devoted to caring for her children and others, Maggie found little time for hobbies; however, she developed into a talented artist working in oil painting. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Maggie was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Ron; her children, Thomas Verboczki and Steven (Carol) Verboczki; her grandchildren, who lovingly called her âMugga,ã Alex Cowles, Jake Verboczki, Lucas Stafford, Dylan Stafford, and Dakota Verboczki; her siblings, Linda (Louie) Rabitaille, Theresa (Jeff) Sharp, Beverly Girard, Sara Remick, Jackie Madosh, and David (Leann) Madosh; and her sister-in-law, Cindy Madosh. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by a son, David Verboczki; a grandson, Tyler Radtke; and her siblings, Richard C. Madosh, Jr., Henry Madosh, Michelle Madosh Kohn, George Madosh, and Dorothy Gove.

In her honor, the sacred fire, a symbol of life and renewal, was kindled, guarded, and fed during its four days. A Celebration of Life will be held on Maggie’s birthday, July 20, 2026, with details to be announced.

Graveside services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dan Moll officiating.
