Irvin A. Otradovec, Jr.

MARQUETTE, MI- Irvin A. Otradovec, Jr., 74, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Irvin was born on March 9, 1951, in Keshena, Wisconsin, to Irvin A. and Evelyn M. (Vigue) Otradovec. He graduated from Northern Michigan University.

Irvin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he continued his career as a clerk with the United States Postal Service until his retirement.

He married the former Wanda L. Iverson in October 1980 in Duluth, Minnesota.

From his daughter: Irvin is being reunited with his parents, his brother Greg, and Primo-thaddeus Spunk his favorite bird hunting dog. Irv was the eldest of 8 and took that job seriously. He was the eldest grandchild and farmed along side his grandparents and uncles. He got his pilot’s license while in the Air Force. He shared his love of nature with his family on many trips, who begrudgingly said. ” Oh yeah, I see.” “When can we go home?!” And “What? Fish for dinner again!”

Irv was bullheaded. He would set himself a goal and then he would accomplish it. He became a Master Staff Sargent in the Air Force before retiring. He returned to his education and graduated as an adult with a job and a family. He also made sure that his family benefited from a formal education. He also became a postal worker before retiring again.

Irv was interested in seeing the sights of the world and sharing that with his family, from the National parks of the U.S to the Holy sites in other countries. He was earnest in his faith and sharing it through groups, clubs, and seeing the wonders of the world around him. Alaska by cruise ship, the Grand Canyon by mule back, Petra Jordan by pilgrimás feet, and Disney world from the gift shop doorways.

Before his illness, he was proud to retire to being my mother’s house boy and getting two seasons of snow birding in Arizona. He cheered on his Green Bay Packers until the end. And now as my dad would say. How are we doing? “Without”.

Irvin is survived by his wife, Wanda Otradovec; his two children, Monique (Joseph) Hirschenberger and Eric Otradovec; his siblings, Jerry (Susie) Otradovec, Karen (Harry) Chironis, Gary (Debbie) Otradovec, Jim Otradovec, Evelyn (Tom) Murphy, and Richard (Nancy) Otradovec; his sister-in-law, Sue Otradovec; his aunt, Sylvia Wilber; his best friend, Bill (Jeanne) Rupnick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Evelyn Otradovec, and his brother, Greg Otradovec.

Services for Irvin will be held and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Irvin’s name to Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti, 425 Fisher Street, Marquette, MI 49855.
