Clayton Wallace Brown
MARQUETTE, MI- Clayton Wallace Brown, age 82, of Marquette, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the loving care of his family.
Clayton was born on November 7, 1943, in Marquette, the son of Lenard and Blanche (LaPointe) Brown. He was raised in Marquette and was a lifelong resident of Marquette. Clayton graduated from Graveraet High School with the Class of 1961. Following high school, he operated a local service station on Washington Street before beginning a long and dedicated career as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. Clayton proudly served the Marquette community for 34 years, retiring in 2000. He was well known as “the mailman” on Third Street and Washington Street-always a friendly, familiar face to those along his route.
An avid outdoorsman, Clayton enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially deer and duck hunting, and cherished the time spent at camp. Above all else, Clayton loved his family. He took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events. He was also known as the world’s biggest Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan.
On December 30, 1961, Clayton married Irene Dionne, and together they recently celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Clayton is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Irene Brown, of Marquette; his children, Gregory (Jeanie) Brown of Texas, Stacy (Randy) Larson of Marquette, and Gerry (Alison) Brown of Marquette; his grandchildren, Katie Fassbender of Wisconsin, Jessica (Matt) Kometz of Minnesota, Emily (Max) Wolf of Minnesota, Eric Fassbender of Minnesota, Samantha (Carl) Troje of Minnesota, Kelsey Brown of Minnesota, Spencer (Brittany) Larson of Marquette, Hunter (Maggie) Larson of Green Bay, Chad Brown of Texas, Ashley Brown of Texas, Landon Brown of Marquette, and Evan Brown of Marquette; and his great-grandchildren, Savannah Larson, Scarlet Larson, Stryker Larson, all of Marquette, Crew Larson of Wisconsin, Scott Troje of Minnesota, Jaxon Wolf of Minnesota, and Cooper Kometz of Minnesota. He is also survived by his brother, Glen (Kathy) Brown of Virginia; his son-in-law, Carl Fassbender; and his daughter-in-law, Lana Brown.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gary Brown; and his daughter, Sherri Fassbender.
Honoring Clayton’s wishes, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
