Barbara V. Tasson
ISHPEMING, MI Barbara V. Tasson, age 80, lifelong Ishpeming resident passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility surrounded by family, the caring staff from U.P. Home Health and Hospice, and the MCMCF staff who loved and cared for her.
Barbara was born August 31, 1945, to Salvatore “Tuddy” and Gertrude (Dyka) Tasson. She attended St. Johns Catholic School and later graduated from Ishpeming High School. Barb held a variety of jobs with the most recent at Robbins Flooring Mill as a machine operator. She enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino in her younger years, doing word search puzzles, and watching professional sports on TV especially the Green Bay Packers where she was a loyal fan and critic!
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dominic R. “Skip” Tasson; her sister, Patricia Tasson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her cousin/caregivers, Dennis (Alberta), Andrew (Stephanie), and Joe (Paula) Tasson; and first cousins, Fabian (Barbara) Tasson of Savoy, Illinois, Alan (Carolyn) Tasson of Sun City West, Arizona, and Jean (Jeff) LePage of Ishpeming, along with several younger cousins among them- Dennis and Alberta’s son Jay (Ali) Tasson of Rochester, Minnesota.
Per Barb’s wishes cremation will take place with a memorial service held in the Spring at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Barb’s family would like to thank the staff at the Bell Memorial emergency room and acute care wing for their compassionate care during Barb’s illness, the staff at U.P. Home Health and Hospice, and the staff at MCMCF for their great care and friendly bantering which Barb loved, as well as the staff of Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home.
