Miller Schuck, Jr.
MARQUETTE, MI-Miller Harry Schuck, Jr. of Marquette, Michigan, passed away at age 88 after a life rooted in love, family, service, and community.
Born and raised by his mother Jean (Ojala) Schuck in Marquette, he attended Northern Michigan University, where he met his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Alatalo. Miller proudly served in the National Guard and later built a career of nearly 40 years teaching drafting and industrial arts at Carmen-Ainsworth in Flint, Michigan. He and Kathy raised four children-Kay-Ann, Miller III (Sonny), Matthew, and Andrew-and were active members of the Lutheran church. Miller shared his passion for the outdoors through volunteering for years on the National Ski Patrol. He assisted in coaching the CA Ski Team, and made countless ski trips, especially to Colorado to visit family and enjoy the Rocky Mountains.
Miller found deep joy in family, including grandchildren Kaitlyn, Maeve, and Ezra, who brightened his later years. After retirement, he and Kathy returned north, spending cherished seasons at their cottage on the Sand River, kayaking, fishing, building a sauna, and embracing U.P. life with resilience and humor. Known for his strength, integrity, kindness, and skill with anything mechanical, Miller lived generously-fixing, building, helping, loving. He leaves behind enduring memories carried forward by all who knew him. Peace on your journey, Dad-may you rest in the beauty of heaven.
