Janith B. ‘Jan’ Frazier

MARQUETTE, MI ­ Janith B. ‘Jan’ Frazier, age 94, entered eternal life Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Mill Creek Assisted Living, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Jan was born August 2, 1931, in Marquette, a daughter of Hector and Beatrice (LaLonde) Cardinal. She originally grew up in Big Bay at the Huron Mountain Club where her parents were employed. Her early education was at the Powell Township School, and she later graduated from Graveraet High School in 1949. She married and eventually raised her five children in Marquette. Throughout the years, she was employed by a variety of businesses. Jan’s hobbies and interests included knitting and crocheting. However, her main focus and fulfillment came from her family. She enjoyed the family get-togethers, taco parties, playing cards, and celebrating family events, birthdays, and holidays. She was a proud mother and grandmother when it came to family. Jan was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church was active in the Altar Society projects and activities.

Jan is survived by her children, David (Terri) Frazier, Cathy Frazier, Shelley (Joe) Sommers, Gary (Marianne) Frazier, and Terri (Jeff) Marceau; her grandchildren, Stacy Sommers, Janelle (Matt) Palfreyman, Michelle (Dan) Willard, Jeremy Frazier, and Ryan (Jessie) Marceau; great-grandchildren, Conner, Sydney, Brooks, Kyle, Kaden, Lily and Jack; great great-grandkids, Jonah and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; and her canine companion, Tedi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dolores Katalinich; and canine pal, Lexi.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Mill Creek Assisted Living and U.P. Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate and professional care of Jan and for their many kindnesses extended to the family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Tuesday, December 16 from 11:00 until 1:00 pm with a reception served the entire time. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
