Douglas W. Scheuneman, Jr.
MUNISING, MI/OCONTO FALLS, WI-Douglas W. Scheuneman, Jr., age 55, of Oconto Falls and formerly of Munising, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Dougie was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on August 22, 1970 to Doug and Helen (Woehrle) Scheuneman. His first few years were spent in the Bahamas until his dad took a job in Munising, Michigan. Dougie grew up in Munising and lived a childhood that taught him the appreciation of nature. He played football and basketball for the Munising Mustangs and graduated from Munising High School in 1988. He attended Bay College and went to work at Wood Island. Doug continued his career in Waste Management and moved to Wisconsin in the early 2000’s. He was a project manager for Solid Solutions at the time of his death. Doug had a deep-rooted faith in the Lord that was especially evident with the spiritual bonds with friends who became like family to him. He was even blessed to participate in a mission trip with a men’s group to Guatemala in 2018.
Dougie was a hard worker, and he took pride in everything he did. He had an amazing green thumb with landscaping (a trait passed on by his father), bringing life and beauty to what he touched. He loved to sing and those who knew him well remember the warmth and heart in his voice. Dougie had a lifelong love and appreciation for hunting and its management. Doug spent many years fishing and hunting deer, duck, and geese with his father, nephew, and friends. He and his lifelong friend, Paul Cromell, had many adventures in the woods and on the back roads of life.
Above all, Dougie had a heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone, always putting others before himself. He had a soft spot for animals (especially the misbehaved ones). One of his happiest places was the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, where he loved the sense of wonder, joy, and timelessness it brought him.
Doug is survived by his heartbroken family, his mother Helen Scheuneman of Munising; sisters and brothers-in-law Heidi and Rich Prunick and Kris and Bill Tidd; nephews Quest (Rianna Brothers) Tidd, Billy (Liz) Tidd, and Richard (Chelsea) Prunick; great-nieces Avery, Audra, Adrien, Julia, and Evi; aunts and uncles Sandy (Pat) Martin, Lindy (Ron) Borkey, Barb Schneider, and Bob Schnieder; and numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Doug Scheuneman, Sr. on September 17, 2025 and his grandparents.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be at the Eden Lutheran Church in Munising on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Vicar Elaine Robbins officiating.
