David J. Moore

He was born March 15, 1945, in Highland Park, Michigan, a son of Samuel and Vivian (Sterling) Moore. He was raised in Dearborn Heights and was a 1963 graduate of Lowry High School.

David served in the US Army and was a Vietnam veteran.

He started in the grocery business at the age of 15. Following his enlistment in the military, David was employed with the Army Air Force Exchange then with the Commissary at KI Sawyer AFB. In 1980, he became a distributor for Little Debbie for several years until his retirement in 2019.

David enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, working in his yard battling dandelions and was a Detroit Lions, Redwings and Tigers fan.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (LaChance) Moore of Little Lake; children, Troy (Heather) Moore of Iron Mountain, Todd (Julie) Moore of Green Bay, WI and Megan (Lon) Russell of Gillette, Wyoming; grandchildren, Connor, Olympia, Bailey, Tessa and Haddie Moore and Elias Russell; brothers-in-law, James LaChance of Little Lake and Paul (Martha) LaChance of Ft. Worth, TX; nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Travis Moore; sister, Patricia Callaway; mother & father-in-law; and sister-in-law, Linda LaChance.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 12 Noon at Canale-Gwinn Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Ronald Westman officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bay Cliff Health Camp or Upper Peninsula Honor Flight.
