Caroll M. Weigold

Born and raised on the Marquette shores of Lake Superior, Caroll was the longest continuous resident of Island Beach Road-a place she cherished and called home for her entire life. Together with her husband, Jerry, she built their home there soon after they married, beginning a family legacy that continues today as their children make their lives along the same beloved shoreline.

Caroll’s roots ran deep in Marquette’s history. Her grandfather served as the final Keeper of the Marquette Lighthouse, a connection Caroll carried proudly throughout her life. Her generosity to her community and friends is a quiet secret.

Many knew Caroll from her daily walks around Presque Isle, where she moved with a peaceful grace along the lakeside paths. Others would spot her gliding across the bay on her paddle boat or jet ski, embracing the water that shaped so much of her life. From her front yard, she fed the geese and deer with the same gentle spirit she carried throughout her life.

Caroll lived in rhythm with Lake Superior-the power, the calm, and the vast beauty of the place shaped who she was.

Her love of the Lake’s greatness was woven into every part of her life, and it continues on through her family, her shoreline, and the memories she leaves behind.

Her legacy lives on where water meets land-on the timeless shores of Lake Superior.

Caroll is survived by her husband, Jerry Weigold; son, Chad Weigold; daughter, Tera (Weigold) Arstikaitis; two grandsons, Noah Weigold and Evan Weigold; and her two sisters, Linda S. Carso and Marilyn (Carso) Bucholtz. Caroll was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Keith Carso and Iris (Sommers) Carso, and her sister, Nikkie (Carso) Flood.

A celebration of Caroll’s life will be held in the summer of 2026.
