Anne (Cid) Christine Ley Pierce

Cid was born to Gloria Gast and Robert Nichols in Detroit, MI, on February 17, 1951. Cid spent some time in a boarding home before being adopted to parents Grayce Christine Turner and Richard T. Hatch.

She graduated from Wylie E. Groves High School in Beverly Hills, MI in 1969. She received an associate degree from Illinois Central College and a Computer Forestry associate degree from Itasca Community College. She also attended Northern Michigan University.

Cid was married to Al Pierce of Perkins, MI. Former husbands include Andrew Greening, George Roberts, and Rick Ley.

She is survived by her husband, Al Pierce; daughters, Andrea Head and Rebecca Ley; grandchildren, Aaron (21) and Erika (19) Head and Charlotte Ley (2); and sibling, Richard Hatch. Cid had a large extended birth family whom she was reunited with in 2018 as a result of an ancestry test. Cid was the second oldest child of Robert Nichols. Half siblings include: an older brother, Frank Gillett, and younger siblings, Penny, Robert Jr., John, Donald, Barbara, Terri, Janice, Donna, David, and Mary.

Cid enjoyed softball, hiking, swimming, firefighting, camping, time with animals, and being out in Mother Nature. She was a member of the Audubon Society and the Hummingbirds & Migration Abound Facebook group who tracked the migration of hummingbirds. She was diligent about having her feeders full as many came to her window every day. The hummingbirds will truly miss her presence.

Cid’s funereal service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Rock Bible Chapel at 1p.m. With Pastor Brian Oberg officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. She will rest in the McFarland cemetery.
