Ruth Ann Duquette

MARQUETTE, MI – Ruth Ann Duquette, age 89, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Ruth was born July 22, 1936, in Marquette, a daughter of Gordon and Violet (Parker) Irwin. She was raised in South Marquette and remained a lifelong resident. Throughout her life, Ruth was known for her strong work ethic, her kindness, and her dedication to both her family and her community.

Over the years, Ruth worked at the Red Owl, A&P, The Miracle Market, and the Pizzeria. She later began what became a decades-long career with St. Vincent de Paul, retiring after more than 30 years of service. Even after retirement, Ruth continued giving back, volunteering with the local food bank and helping with jewelry marking. She was proud to contribute wherever she could and enjoyed staying active in the community.

Ruth enjoyed the simple joys in life-bingo, shopping, family picnics, and time spent with the Saturday lunch bunch. She was an avid reader and a longtime member of the Royal Neighbors. Above all, Ruth cherished her family and the many memories created over the years.

Ruth married the love of her life, Donald Duquette, and together they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Karla and Michael; her siblings Kay, Mary, and Keith Irwin, and sister Judy Kowalski; and her half-sister Dawn. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Jr.; her sisters Juanita, Dorothy, and Shy; her brother Gordon Jr.; and her parents, Gordon and Violet.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given to Ruth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
