Mokhlis Yacoub Zaki
SALEM, SC-Mokhlis Yacoub Zaki, 87, husband of Ellen Davenport Zaki, of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home from complications of kidney disease. He was a devout Coptic Christian.
After receiving his doctorate from the University of California at Berkley, Dr. Zaki became a professor of economics at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. He resided in Marquette for forty-two years before moving to Keowee Key in Salem, SC for the last fifteen years.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Zaki is survived by his son: Alec Michael Zaki; and daughter: Laura Jane Zaki.
Entombment will take place at a later date at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee, MI.
