Kathryn Ammerman

GWINN, MI-Kathryn Irene Ammerman, 66, of Gwinn, went to be with Jesus, Sunday morning, October 26, 2025 while in the care of her loving family.

Kathryn was born September 18, 1959 in Tecumseh, Michigan to Benjamin and Sandra (Sherrod) Ross and was a graduate of Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Class of 1977. She then attended Spring Arbor College and Northern Michigan University and worked as a Psych Tech for Marquette General Hospital/UP Health System.

Kathy was a wild and free spirit and loved adventure. She was the Queen of picking morel mushrooms, a woman of the forest, and a passionate hunter and fisher. She loved discovering secret waterfalls in the UP and was not afraid to occasionally trespass to find them. She loved having huge bonfires with friends and frequently hosted movie nights and holiday meals for many people in her community. She loved to volunteer at the Care Clinic of Gwinn and the Humane Society doing kitty cuddling. She was a member of 906 Community Church, the West Branch Sportsmen’s Club of Skandia and Christian Motorcycle Association. After retiring, she returned to work at Yellowstone National Park for a season. Kathy loved her family so much and was an incredible Mother, sister, and friend. One of her greatest treasures was being a Grandma and was so excited to have a new granddaughter, baby Lucy who she got to spend a very quality summer with. Her faith in Jesus was the most important aspect of her life; this being evident right until the day she went to be with Him.

Surviving are her daughter, Lindsey (Matthew) Green of Los Angeles, CA; son, Ethan (Amanda) Ammerman of Negaunee Township; grandchildren: Quinten, Cole, Lucy, Grace, Kylee, Ainsley, and Aspen; brothers Daniel Ross and Tim (Alicia) Ross; cousin Yvonne Smiley.

She was preceded in death by her Mother Sandra, Father Benjamin, and Brother Don.

Her Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 29th at 11 AM at the location previously known as Woodland Church, 1804 Wright Street, Marquette, MI 49855.
