Judith Anne (Pascoe) Hintsala
GREENVILLE, MI-The family of Judith Anne (Pascoe) Hintsala sadly announce that she died peacefully on October 25, 2025, at age 85, at Hathaway Hills Memory Care Center in Greenville, Michigan.
Born on July 17, 1940, to the late Phyllis (Johnson) and Frederick Pascoe, Judy was a proud lifelong resident of Negaunee, Michigan. A regular at Negaunee Miners basketball games well into her 80s, she also loved the history of the area and of her pioneering Cornish ancestors who mined the rich iron ore and brought the famous Cornish pasty recipe with them. A pioneer in her own right, she became one of the first women to manage a Wylie Loans office. Judy worked at Ishpeming Wylie Loans for 33 years, where her clients became her lifelong friends as they celebrated a first new car, a birth of a baby, or taking that dream vacation. A tireless volunteer, Judy worked with and advocated for Hospice of Marquette County and the Marquette Pregnancy Clinic. For many years she consoled others through her Grief Share Group in Ishpeming. Also known for her fun-loving personality, Judy mastered the Tarzan ‘yell’ in a pitch perfect imitation, and it often sounded out in family celebrations. Her nieces and nephews will never forget.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Frederick Pascoe, as well as her loving husband Vernon Hintsala of Basin Drive in Negaunee, and her cherished grandson Kevin Tulilla of Greenville, MI. She is survived by her daughter Julie (Charles) Slagter of Greenville, Michigan and granddaughters Kristina and Kimberly of Holland, MI, Also, sister Patricia Cushwa of Williamsport, Maryland, brother F. Martin (Janet) Pascoe of Negaunee, and sister Christine (Donald) Stehle of Romeo, MI. Cherished family include nieces Lori Clark, Pam Johnson, Kathy Pascoe, Carla Lockhart, Rhonda (Andy) Pellegrino and nephews Christopher (Jean) Pascoe, Paul (Sue) Pascoe, Rick Pascoe, Todd Pascoe, Martin (Suzanne) Johnson and Matthew Cushwa. Her special friends Sue Joki and Mildred Isaacson brought her constant joy for over 50 years.
A private burial will be followed by a memorial celebration early next summer. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of Marquette County.
