Joseph Gravedoni
NEGAUNEE, MI-Joseph John ‘Chubby’ Gravedoni, 88, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully at home Thursday evening, November 20, 2025 while in the care of his loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Chubby was born October 23, 1937 to Charles and Ernestine (Forchini) Gravedoni, grew up in North Lake and attended Ishpeming schools. He then worked in North Chicago at a US Steel Mill before moving back to Negaunee and working at the Marquette Branch Prison.
Chubby enjoyed riding his motorcycle, attending weekend auctions, tending to his yardwork, and most importantly, spending time with his family, especially for the holidays.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 50 years, Charlotte (Kauppila) Gravedoni; children: Randy (Amy) Harris of Negaunee, Lesley (Louie) Molina of Kenosha, WI and Erica (Max Apple) Schulte of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Stella and Ethan Harris, Nicholas Molina and Isabelle (Evan) Kovala, and Dennis and Phillip (Jen) Gravedoni; great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Ryan, Madeline and Everett; his brothers: Charles ‘Clark’ (Pat), Paul (Peggy), William (Suann) and Daniel Gravedoni, all local; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Gerald; and sisters, Elizabeth ‘Dolly’ Herman, Mildred Perry and Judy Jarvi.
Honoring Chubby’s wishes, a private family memorial will be held at a later date.
