Jeanne Audrey Knight

Jeanne was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on August 8, 1938 to Myrtle (Pohlman) & Earl Knight. She attended the Ishpeming school system and graduated in 1956. In 1986, she graduated with a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Mississippi State University, where she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary fraternity. Her fulfilling career as a systems analyst spanned decades.

Jeanne loved spending time with family and enjoyed reading books of all types. She was an avid bridge player and loved to cook. For many years, she was a reading tutor at an elementary school and also knitted hats for newborns at the local hospital. Jeanne was well traveled and, blaming her gypsy genes, lived in many different corners of the United States as well as South America. She said that when she had a hard time falling asleep, instead of counting sheep, she would count the places she had lived. She usually would doze off once her count reached around 80.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Joe Lichterman, his children, her daughter Sabina Villar of Marquette, MI & son Thomas (Dee) Villar of Lake Elmo, MN. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John Villar, two brothers Earl and Gerald, and three sisters, Margaret Filizetti, Grace Hocking, and Sally Truscott.

The family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinary and compassionate care given by the staff at Hamilton Health Services and Compassus Hospice Care. Cremation has taken place. At her request, no memorial will take place. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army or Little Brothers Organization (Friends of the Elderly) in Marquette, Michigan.
