Gerald ‘Jerry’ Richer
MARQUETTE, MI-Gerald H. ‘Jerry’ Richer, 83, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and under the compassionate care of UP Home Health and Hospice.
Jerry was born on May 18, 1942, in Marquette to Alfonse and Clara (LaMoria) Richer. He was a graduate of Marquette Senior High School and later attended Northern Michigan University. Jerry also served in the U.S. Army.
He worked for Cliffs-Dow for a number of years.
A true outdoorsman, Jerry loved spending time at camp, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed playing pool and participated in a local pool league for many years. Above all, Jerry cherished time with his family. His happiest moments were those spent with his children and grandchildren, who were the center of his life. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Jackovich-Richer; his children, Chris Pentecost, Jerry (Kim) Richer, Jr., Michele Premeau, Dianne (Clinton) Stone, Jennifer (Joe Hoffman) Richer, Sammie (Cullen Steiger) Richer, Mandy Richer, Billy (Melissa) Richer, and Breanna Richer; his stepdaughters, Cathy (Scott) Hinnendael and JoAnne (AJ Crooks) Jackovich; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he treasured; and his siblings, Alfonse Richer and Christine Richer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonse and Clara Richer; his grandson, Clinton Michael Stone; and several siblings.
The family will greet relatives and friends beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Peter Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Brandon Oman officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately after the Mass in the parish hall.
