Nancy Casey Fulton

MT. PLEASANT, MI-Nancy J. Casey Fulton, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, died peacefully Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Comfort Care Senior Living after a long illness.

There will be a visitation Monday, October 27, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, 114 S. Bradley Street, Mt. Pleasant, between 4 and 8 PM, followed by a funeral service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 206 W. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, on Tuesday, October 28, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or the Henry & Nancy Fulton Annual Scholarship at Central Michigan University.

Nancy Jane Casey was born on November 19, 1948, in Escanaba, Michigan, to Robert E. Casey and Louise (VandeWiele) Casey. She attended Holy Name High School and Bay de Noc Community College. She married Henry Levan Fulton on July 13, 1974; they had one child. She was also step-mother to two children from Henry’s first marriage. She earned a B. A. and M. A. from Central Michigan University and published an article on Jean Rhys, the author of Wide Sargasso Sea. She was active in her community as a member of ArtReach and as an early advocate for recycling. She was later called to holy orders and ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Church. She was very active at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Mt Pleasant. In her role as Spiritual Care Coordinator for Hospice of Central Michigan, Reverend Fulton ministered to the dying and bereaved throughout mid-Michigan. Outside of the ministry, she enjoyed gardening and writing. Her poem ‘A Long Dying’ was recognized by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. She and Henry took many trips to Scotland together, and looked forward to their annual vacation in Saugatuck.

Nancy Fulton is survived by her son Charles and his wife Elizabeth; her stepchildren Jenny and Matthew (Max) and her siblings Carol, Mary, Patricia, and Robert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Prof. Henry L. Fulton, and by her parents.
