Donald J. Frailing

HARVEY, MI-Donald J. Frailing, 89, of Harvey, passed away on Monday evening, October 6, 2025 at his home.

Donald was born on June 4, 1936 in Stambaugh, MI, a son of Everett and Edna (Frechette) Frailing. He was raised in the Iron River, MI, area, graduating from Iron River High School. After high school, Don served his country and was stationed in Pensacola, FL, for four years with the U.S. Navy.

In 1957, he married the former Nancy J. Gagne and they relocated to Marquette. In 1969, Don started the fast food restaurant, Beef-A-Roo, and enjoyed taking part in all aspects of its operation.

Don was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey, the Elks Lodge #405 BPOE, and the Richard Jopling Post #44 American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and supporting his children and grandchildren in every aspect of their sports and extracurricular activities.

Don is survived by his wife, Nancy Frailing; son, Ron (Fay) Frailing; three daughters, Camille (Al) LaFayette, Kathryn Gravel and Jill (Brian) Carriere; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Matt, Nathan (Samantha), Kelly (Jim), Kevin (Morgan), Derrick (Olivia), Kyle (Emily), Andrew and Tanner (Alyssa); seven great-grandchildren; brother, David (Terry Nissen) Frailing; sister-in-law, Janice Frailing; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Edna (Frechette) Frailing; father, Everett Frailing; brother, Jerry Frailing; and sister, Donna Balin.

Don’s family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at St. Louis the King Church beginning at 10am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the church at 11am with Rev. Tom Merkel officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the mass in the Father Gauthier Reception Hall. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
