Marlene Ruth O’Neill

MANITOWOC, WI- Marlene Ruth O’Neill (Koval, Bordeau)87, entered eternal life peacefully to be with the Heavenly Father and her Lord Savior Jesus Christ on September 17, 2025, at Harbor View Assisted Living Facility in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
Marlene was born on January 9, 1938, in Marquette, Michigan to John E. Koval and Sylvia Koval. She grew up on West Washington St. in Marquette. She was a member of the class of 1955 of Graveraet High School. She worked for Johnson Sport Shop as manager of the record department, Getz’s Clothiers as a salesperson, an accounts receivables bookkeeper for the Catholic Services and hostess in the Northland Hotel dining room.
Marlene moved to Wisconsin in 1970. She worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a payroll analyst, the Manitowoc Company as Payroll Analyst and E.K. Williams as an accountant in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She owned and managed Abbas Bed & Breakfast in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
She graduated from Silver Lake College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Management and received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Lakeshore Technical College and a stenographer certificate from Northern Michigan University. She received a Master Gardener certificate for the University of Wisconsin Manitowoc extension.
While living in Manitowoc and Two Rivers Wisconsin she was a member of Masquers Theater for 13 years working on their productions and was the costume specialist, President of Two Rivers Community Hospital Volunteers, President of Two Rivers French-Canadian Connection, member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Alpha Mu Chapter, member of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers Business and Professional Women’s Club, treasurer of Women’s Aglow Christian Connection. Marlene also modeled for fashion stores and displayed the Art of Tablesettings at the Rahr-West Art Museum for many years.
Marlene moved back to Marquette, Michigan in 2000 after her retirement. She was chairperson for Christian Women’s Connection, Friendly Visitor at Marquette General Hospital, member of Clown’n Around Clowns, member of Silver Creek Church, member of Thank God it is Wednesday watercolor painting group, member of Jayne Paquette’s Bridge Club, member of Friends of Peter White Library, member of Marquette Red Hats
Rosette, member of the Sunshine Girls singing group, and a member of Lake Superior Art Association.
Marlene moved back to Two Rivers, Wisconsin in 2014. She was a member of Renew Church. Marlene’s hobbies included: watercolor painting, drawing, quilter, jewelry maker, cloth doll maker, and gardening.
Marlene is survived by her son Professor John Bordeau (Dr. Sarah Kemppainen) of Marquette, Michigan and daughter Cindy (Todd) Gregoire and her grandchildren Michael and Georgia of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Brother Robert (Madaline) Koval of Marquette, Michigan. Sister-in-law Darlene Koval of Marquette, Michigan, special niece Tammy Koval of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, former husband Don Bordeau of Lincoln, Nebraska and former husband Lee O’Neill of Boise, Idaho.
She is proceeded in death by her parents John and Sylvia Koval and her grandparents Mike and Jennie Suobank and Andrew and Matrona Koval and her brother Tom Koval, stepfather Claude Moseler Sr. stepbrother and sister-in-law Claude Jr. & Marion Moseler, stepsister Mary Roy, Aunt Jennie and John Grund.
She will be missed by her family, church family and friends. The family would like to thank the Harbor View Assisted Living staff and Aurora Hospice staff.
