ISHPEMING, MI-Jane Elizabeth Carello nee Smith, age 73, passed away at her home in Ishpeming, in the care of her family on Saturday September 6, 2025.
Jane was born in Winchester, England on April 24, 1952. Jane is survived by her husband, Vito Carello Sr. of Ishpeming, they enjoyed 30 years together. She is also survived by 4 daughters; Samantha Hughes 55, Tidworth, England; Sally Hughes 52, Andover, England; Rachael Williams 41, Newbury, England; Susan Weber 47, De Pere, WI; a son; Benjamin Hughes 49, Menominee, MI; a step-son; Nathan Mottle 47, Menominee, MI, and a step-daughter; Kendal Jorgenson 50, Appleton, WI. She is further survived by a brother; Nigel Smith, Newbury, England, along with several grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and a brother.
Jane loved to garden and feed her birds. She enjoyed pistol shooting and was an excellent shot, but her real passion was to travel, and her family. She was able to combine those two as she traveled to England several times in the last decade. She was fortunate, due to technology (FaceTime) to be able to say goodbye to all of her family face to face, and to visit with them constantly as she declined.
Jane was fascinated by people and loved to observe them. She was a very compassionate person, possessed a sharp intellect, common sense, and a biting sense of humor. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
