Anne Weisel

Anne was born February 20, 1936 in Ishpeming to Turri and Edith (Olson) Sandstrom, was raised in Negaunee and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1954. After graduation, she moved to Chicago and earned her nursing degree from Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She worked as an R.N. at Bell Hospital and Marquette General but later moved out West where she continued her nursing career in Alaska and Washington. Eventually, she moved back to the Midwest and became the director of a nursing home in Watertown, Wisconsin which she was very proud of. Anne was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Negaunee where she volunteered in her spare time.

Surviving are her son: Mark (Catherine) Johnson of Milwaukee, two daughters; Vicki (Scott) Norkleby of Milton Freewater, Oregon, Lynn (Alan) Demers of Clarkston, Washington, her first husband Lee Johnson, five grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband Paul Weisel, and her sister, Jeanne Sandstrom, who passed in 2021.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday, September 8th at Bethany Lutheran Church in Negaunee with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lloyd Luedeman officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
