Frances Hakkola

EBEN JCT, MI-Frances ‘Frannie’ Margaret Hakkola, age 76, or Eben Junction died Friday, July 4, 2025 at her home under loving care of her family and Lake Superior Hospice.
She was born on February 24, 1949 in Munising to the late Albert and Florence (McNamara) Charlebois. Frannie grew up in Chatham and graduated from Eben High School in 1967. She moved to Milwaukee and worked for Master Lock making combination padlocks and at A.O. Smith making car frames. In 1970, Frannie married Francis Hawley and together they had three sons. Frannie worked for the Negaunee Health Department, UP Home Nursing where she did home care and hospice care, and then at Marquette General Hospital from 2006 until 2019. Frannie was a clinical aide caring for patients mostly in the cardiac unit. She married Archie Hakkola on December 18, 1992. Frannie loved to travel. She enjoyed trips to see her boys in Atlanta and Green Bay and traveling to places like Jamaica and Las Vegas. Frannie was a talented baker and made delicious homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, and cardamom bread.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Victoria Hawley of Atlanta, Brian and Tracy Hawley of Green Bay, and Charlie and Victoria Hawley of Skandia; grandchildren Dylan, Michalyn, Jordan, Griffin, Addison, Evan, and Sylvia; sister Mary Charlebois, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frannie was preceded in death by her husband Archie; parents Albert and Florence; siblings James (Gloria) Charlebois, Larry (Mary) Charlebois, Joyce (Dale) Newton, and Janet (Gilbert) Beauleau.
A gathering will take place on Friday July 11, 2025 at Frannie and Archie’s home from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Frannie’s obituary and online guestbook may be viewed and signed at bowermanfuneralhome.net
