Christine Ann Harlock

Christine Ann Harlock
ISHPEMING, MI Christine Ann Harlock, 57, of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, surrounded by love and care.
Born on May 19, 1968, in Ishpeming, the daughter of Vernon Harlock and Pauline (Stone) Ahola. A proud graduate of Ishpeming High School, Class of 1986, Christine went on to build a life rooted in hard work, friendship, and joy.
She began her career as a waitress at the Brown Derby, where her warmth and charm made every customer feel like family. In the years that followed, she worked in construction, served as a crossing guard, and even took on the role of a robo-cop. At last, Christine found her calling at Marquette County Medical Care, dedicating herself to roles as a Nursing Assistant, Transporter, and more – always bringing compassion and joy to her work. She truly loved the residents of the nursing home and the relationships she built.
Christine was known for her radiant smile that could light up any room, and her signature heels that she wore with flair. Her vibrant personality extended into her community life: she was a proud member of the Negaunee Elks Club, serving as president of the Lady Elks, and a spirited competitor in the Ishpeming Pool League, playing for the Rainbow Bar. Chris always looked forward to spending time with her sister, enjoying Sherrie’s breakfast together on Fridays, going for car rides to check things out, scratching lottery tickets, and even sneaking off to the bad place… the casino! She loved her bingo nights, the casino trips, and cheering on her favorite NASCAR drivers. She also had a passion for hunting and the great outdoors.
But above all, Christine cherished the time spent with her longtime partner, Brian “Ozzie” Ostwald. Whether they were taking road trips, going for their almost weekly Saturday trip to the bad place (the casino), enjoying evenings at the Elks, or simply sharing quiet moments together, their bond was a source of joy and strength.
Christine’s sass, sparkle, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Alan Merrills and Bradley Merrills, both of Ishpeming; her sister Paula (Jody) Champagne of Iron Mountain; her partner Brian âOzzieã Ostwald; granddaughters Teagan and Laynee; nieces Rachel, Amanda, and Jordan; her special friend Sue Bergman; and all the great chicks from the Ishpeming Pool League, especially her pool partner Sue Perry. There will be one last drink on Chris and let it be a toast to the love, laughter and times you shared together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her very dear Uncle Paul and Aunt Doris Stone, and her granddaughter, Abigail Merrills, now finally cradled once more in her arms.
A memorial service will be held at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home on Friday, August 1st, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Vicar Robert Lake will be officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Ishpeming Elks Club to celebrate Christine’s life.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, UP Home Nursing, Private Duty Nursing, and Active Therapy.
