Allayne Dubord Martin Kent

REPUBLIC, MI-Allayne Ann Dubord Martin Kent of Mesa, Arizona, formally of Republic, MI passed away peacefully in the loving care of Friends and Family Assisted Living, Helping Heart Hospice of Mesa, AZ and family on Wednesday September 11, 2024.
She was born December 8th, 1936 in Ishpeming, MI, the first child to Violet and Archie Dubord. She was an adventurous child, and would often attempt to escape the yard under the fence only to be stopped by the threat of Mrs. Powers’ crow landing on her head. She loved her dog Daniel the spaniel and was a good big sister to her siblings Maryann ‘Tony’, Sue and Micheal. Her sisters remained her best friends and confidants throughout her life.
Allayne Married Charles Martin December 1952, they resided in Republic where she raised her children and was an active member of St. Augustine catholic church and Republic community. Her interests and hobbies were defined by who she was and her life can be encapsulated in five words, Faith, Family, Friends, Community and Caring. She was known for her kindness, welcoming nature and generosity and touched the lives of all who knew her. She believed and lived if you had 2 of anything, whether it was minutes, dollars, or hands you gave with a loving heart without question.
She was a lifetime volunteer to many causes with a special affinity to the March of Dimes where she served as a regional coordinator for many years, she delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the St. James nursing home, was granted Special Minister of the Eucharist by the Catholic diocese, an active member of the St. Augustine Alter Society and taught CCD. Allayne was also a Cub Scout and Brownie leader for several years.
In 1972 she received her GED wanting to have her diploma before her 1st child graduated high school. She was a Jafra consultant for many years and in 1982 graduated from Bay De Noc Community college as a licensed dental hygienist.
Her creative talents and spirit knew no bounds, there was no craft she couldn’t master. She was an accomplished baker and made wedding cakes for many of the Republic and surrounding area residents, she additionally taught cake decorating classes (though never revealed her secret recipes). Allayne was a self taught expert seamstress, designing and making everything from wedding dresses, men suits to bikinis. She quilted, made ceramics, and while the list goes will always be remembered by her entire extended family through the Christmas ornaments she made them every year.
In July of 1983 she married Warren Kent and welcomed a new extended family. Allayne and Warren spent years traveling to every state including Alaska and Hawaii before settling in Mesa Arizona. There she proceeded to get her Realtor license and was fundamental in growing the Sunland Spring Village community. They joined the congregation of St George Catholic Church, where she became a member of their ladies guild. She took special joy in bringing people together, was Red Hat society and was known as a pillar of her community and the ‘hostess with the mostest’.
Allayne never lost her sense of adventure and want of new experiences, while on their continued travels she walked on the ocean floor on her 70th birthday, and for her 75th took a balloon ride over Arizona, and while she wanted to sky dive on her 80th birthday her doctor said no because of her recent knee replacement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Warren, her sister Maryann ‘Tony’ (Gene) Orszulock, her first husband Charles Martin, three children Allayne Ann, James and Joseph Martin, and step son Lyle (Cathy) Kent.
Allayne is survived by her sister Sue (Curtis) Hendrickson, Michael (Donna) Dubord, five children; Robert (Lynette) Martin, Kerry Martin, Steven Paul Martin, Denise (Craig) Weber and Susan Martin. Five step children; Terri (Jim) Nielson, Gaile (Jon) Janz, Kay (Robert) Veitch, Paul (Margo) Kent, grandsons Steve (Karen) Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Zach Veitch, Gerad Veitch, granddaughters Cassie (Daniel) Fay, Brittney Janz, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
She expressed grace and gratitude throughout her long life though it not always easy. Her message to all would be to be an instrument of peace, family was everything and everyone is family. She is deeply missed and will remain lovingly remembered. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in her honor on Friday July 18, 2025, at Saint Augustine Church in Republic, MI from 10am until 11am, followed by refreshments in the church basement.
