Ronald Matthew Kangas

Born April 15, 1951, in Ishpeming, Michigan, to Eino Kangas and Pearl (Hedstrom) Kangas, he graduated from Gwinn High School in 1969. After graduation he worked several jobs around the area including the DNR of Gwinn, construction and CCI. He went to Northern Michigan University and received a degree in criminal justice and was employed by the Forsyth Township Police Department. He worked as a police officer for over 30 years and retired in 2008.

Ronny loved the outdoors. He enjoyed going on hunting and fishing trips out West with his dad and friends, and best of all, camping and fishing with his wife Robin.

Ron is survived by his son Matthew Kangas, his step children Brad Hill (Ginger), Ricky Hill, and Tanya Juliano; his grandchildren, Adaya Ruroden-Guenther (Levi), Colby Pisanchin, Reid Hill, Hailey Norman, Angel Teeple; siblings, Donald Kangas Rock MI, Vera Kangas Kauffman (Chuck) Dale, WI, and Lorraine Kangas (Mick Hiltunen) Little Chute, WI; nieces and nephews, Daniel Kangas (Samantha), Shelley Ahlquist, Matthew Sell, and Brian Kauffman, Jason Kauffman (Sara), Jessica Kauffman-Westbrook (Greg).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Robin Whitelaw-Kangas; parents, Eino Kangas and Pearl Hedstrom-Kangas; his daughter, Shanda Fawn Kangas, and sister-in-law Becky Brown-Kangas.
