Robert Jandron, Sr.

NEGAUNEE, MI-Robert Bruce ‘Bob’ Jandron Sr., born on April 26, 1936, in Ishpeming, Michigan died peacefully at Eastwood Nursing Home in Negaunee on June 9, 2025.
The son of Murphy and Lydia (Rovedo) Jandron, Bob was the oldest of seven children. He graduated from St. Paul’s School in Negaunee where he was a star on the basketball team and President of his class. He met the love of his life, Dolores ‘Dodo’ (Herman) Jandron in the 6th grade. Bob entered the Navy on June 22, 1955, and went through basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Station. He returned to Michigan and married Dolores on April 28, 1956. They both returned to Naval Air Facility El Centro, California and had their first child. Dolores returned to Michigan a year later to have their 2nd child as Bob went to Los Alamos, New Mexico to receive technical training. Bob was then sent to San Diego and assigned to the Air Anti Sub Marine Squadron aboard the USS CVS 37 Princeton. Shortly after arriving his ship was deployed to the first Taiwan Straits crisis. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1959, Bob and Dolores made their way back to Negaunee where they raised their four children and were happily married for 60 years.
Bob worked for CCI for over 30 years at the Empire Mine. He was a long-time member of the Negaunee Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter, a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a coach for the Negaunee Little League organization. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Green Bay Packers fan, as well as any team that his children and grandchildren played for and coached. Bob and Dolores enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren succeed in sports and in life, traveling all over to watch them when they could. Bob was able to take a trip of a lifetime with his son and daughter-in-law to visit with relatives in Maniago, Italy in June of 2017.
Above all, Bob was kind, honest, and a true gentleman – a man of the highest integrity. You simply could not have met a better man. These attributes followed through to his large and loving family who survives him, including his children, Vickie (Frederick) Spitzer, Kurt (Terri) Jandron, Dale (Becky) Jandron, daughter-in-law Kelly (the late Robert Jandron, Jr.) Jandron, grandchildren: Todd (Jennifer) Couture, Amber (Richard Basham) Spitzer, Jason (Lauren Sounde) Spitzer, Lyndsey Jandron, Kurt Michael Jandron Jr., Spencer Jandron, Zachary (Hannah Chipman) Jandron, Andrew (Nicole) Jandron, Josh Jandron, Cory (Lindsey Parker) Jandron, Anthony (Gabrielle) Jandron, Jacob Jandron, Nickolas Martin and Tyler Jandron; great grandchildren, Savannah (Anthony) Ridgway, Rebecca Childers, Briana and Chole Peacock, Mia and Daxton Basham, Mika, Elias and Annette Couture, Adalyn Jandron, Otto and Lucy Chipman, Eloise Jandron, Dean and Nathan Jandron, as well as many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
