Michael Fassbender

GRAND RAPIDS, MI-Michael J. Fassbender, age 90, died on June 10, 2025, in Grand Rapids, MI surrounded by family.
He was born to Ann (Buchko) and Marvin Fassbender on April 17, 1935. He is survived by his wife Nancy (Pribble) Fassbender, and children Mike Fassbender and wife Susan (Labugen), Greg Fassbender and wife Laura (Tobar), and Chris Fassbender. Grand Children Kara Fassbender, Jenna Fassbender and Mia Fassbender.
Siblings Janet Fassbender Chicago (deceased), and Basil Fassbender – Marquette.
Michael was a veteran of the United States Navy entering into active-duty service bootcamp training at the tail end of the Korean War, and then active-duty service in Japan post the war. Following his military service, he attended mortuary science college in Milwaukee and joined the family business Fassbender Funeral Home as a licensed mortician, with his father and business founder, Marvin.
Michael was an avid Philatelist, attending stamp shows often in Milwaukee and Chicago. He was a licensed small aircraft pilot and belonged to a flying club in Marquette. He was also an active member of Rotary and his church, St. Michaels Parish. He enjoyed downhill snow skiing and was the oldest skier at Marquette Mountain. Mike and Nancy enjoyed travelling, and spending time with their friends and family. Michael was a good dad to his three boys, and a wonderful husband to his wife, they were married for 65 years at the time of his death. Hard working, loyal, honest, caring, humble and fair. A lifelong resident of Marquette, a town he loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held at Saint Andrews Cathedral in Grand Rapids, MI.
