Gilford Perry

ISHPEMING, MI Gilford Charles Perry, Sr. Gilford Charles Perry, Sr., age 98, a lifelong resident of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Michigan Veterans Home D.J. Jacobetti in Marquette.
Born in Ishpeming on April 18, 1927, Gilford was the son of the late Francis and Myrtle Perry. A proud graduate of Ishpeming High School, Gil was drafted into the U.S. Navy at the young age of 17, serving his country honorably during World War II.
Gil devoted more than five decades of his life to the auto parts industry, working for Carroll Motors for over 50 years. His strong work ethic and dedication saw him continue his career well into his 90s with Auto Value.
Known for his passion for bowling, Gil was inducted into the U.P. Bowling Hall of Fame. He was also a skilled horseshoe player and a proud U.P. Champion, participating in the Ishpeming Horseshoe League. Gil was a longtime member of the Ishpeming V.F.W. and enjoyed many outdoor pursuits, including hunting, fishing, jeep rides, and time spent at camp.
He is survived by his two sons: Steven (Jane) Perry of Casper, WY; and Gilford (Donna) Perry of Marquette; his grandchildren: Matthew (Jenn) Perry, Jed Perry, Jacob (Ashley) Perry, Trinity (Kevin) Messamer, Leah Perry, and Bethany (Walter) Porter; along with 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Ladin of Escanaba, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gil was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Perry, and brother-in-law, Herb Ladin.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming.
