Cesar Marchany

TRAVERSE CITY, MI-Cesar R. Marchany, 88, of Gwinn, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Thursday, May 29th in Traverse City, MI.

He was born December 10th, 1936, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He graduated from Escuela Superior Central in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1957.

On June 12, 1965, he married Judith M. Hutchens in Gwinn.

Cesar enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958, serving on bases in Scotland, Germany, several countries in Southeast Asia, and on multiple domestic bases. He retired after serving his country for 20 years. After the military, Cesar worked in the Cleveland Cliff Mines as a float operator, a sanitation specialist at Gwinn High School, and as a fabricator for a local airplane deicing plant.

Cesar enjoyed the outdoors, often spending time in his garden, and taking every opportunity for recreational hunting and fishing. He was also an avid model builder, taking great pride in his model trains.

He is survived by his son, Steven Marchany of Traverse City and granddaughters, Lauren & Rachel Marchany.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith M. Marchany.

A memorial service will be held on June 20th at 1:00 PM at the Gwinn United Methodist Church.
