Barbara Ollila

MARQUETTE, MI-Barbara Ann Ollila, 67, of Marquette, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 14, 2025, at her home, due to a medical event.

She was born February 8, 1958, in Marquette, a daughter of William and Pearl (Jacobs) Fleury. She was a 1977 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and a lifelong area resident.

Barbara worked a variety of jobs over the years. She worked at Red Lobster as a cook and hostess, Landmark Inn in housekeeping, Econo Foods in the deli, the former Presque Isle Zoo where she was bitten by a bear cub and most recently at Super One as a clerk until her retirement in 2020. She also occasionally helped her husband, Dale J. Ollila with his work with the federal government in the sea lamprey division performing outreach. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Her interests included crafting, camping, hunting, fishing, guitar playing, singing, violin playing and was a longtime NMU Hockey season ticket holder.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Dale J. Ollila of Marquette, whom she married May 29, 2010 at Silver Creek Church; children, Scott (Hannah) Glass of Garden City, KS, Jill (Dan) Dulany of Negaunee and Kathy Ollila of Marquette; grandchildren, Marcella, Turenne, Hayden, Wynter, Remington, Davy, Eli, Audrey and Ellie; siblings, Julie Fleury of Gwinn, Robert (Jill) Fleury of Marquette, Mark Fleury of Florida and Michelle (Joe) Ries of Fond du Lac, WI; several nieces & nephews; and fury companion, Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Joe Turenne; brother, David Turenne.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 10 am to 12 Noon at Marquette Hope Church. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon with Rev. Kristi Hintz officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the church hall.
