Arthur ‘Art’ Mann

ISHPEMING TWP, MI-Arthur Cobert ‘Art’ Mann, age 80, of Ishpeming Township, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Michigan Veterans Home D.J. Jacobetti in Marquette, surrounded by his family.

Art was born on May 19, 1945, in Pensacola, Florida, to the late Mary Alice (Peek) and Ralph Patrick Mann. He graduated from Milton High School in Milton, FL, and later earned an associate degree from Northern Michigan University.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War.

Art worked as a Plant Repairman for Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. for 28 years and retired from the Tilden Mine in 2007. During his time at Cleveland Cliffs, he became an EMT and was part of their First Responder Team. He was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union, where he once served as Secretary.

In addition to his professional and military service, Art was a former member of the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, where he served alongside his son, and a former member of the Riverside Club. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group, the Seabee Swarm Group, and the Bethel Lutheran Church.

Art’s greatest joy was following all of his grandsons’ activities. He loved spending time at camp on the Dead River, visiting Florida, and riding his Harley. A loyal Alabama fan, he proudly cheered ‘Roll Tide!’

He is survived by His son, Scott ‘Earl’ (Tricia) Mann, His daughter, Kristin (Tom) Knapp, four grandsons, who affectionately called him ‘Papa’: Hayden Mann, Garrett Mann (fiancee Jillian Skewis), Marshall Knapp, and Mitchell Knapp, a brother, David Mann of Sun City, AZ, a sister, Mary (Don) Carter of Gulf Breeze, FL, an aunt, Joyce Baughman of Glenford, OH, along with many nieces and nephews and special friends, Arlin ‘Buzzy’ Violetta and Bruce Ragusette.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karina Mann; his parents, Ralph and Mary Alice Mann; and his in-laws, Clarence and Hilja Magnuson.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 16th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm, officiated by Dr. James Elenbaas.

Interment will be at Ishpeming Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force.
