Pearl Filizetti

GWINN, MI- Pearl Filizetti, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2025. She celebrated her 100th birthday in December surrounded by close family and friends – joyful milestone that reflected a life full of love, warmth, and deep connection.

Pearl was born December 5, 1924 to Andrew and Jennie (Rautio) Filippi and graduated from Palmer High School. She was the embodiment of quiet strength, compassion, and generosity. Pearl married the love of her life, Julio Filizetti, on August 14, 1943, and together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage before Julio went on to be with the Lord.

Pearl was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish. She worked for many years for Forsyth Township, and was widely known for her kindness and gentle nature. No matter what the day held, she always made time for others. Whether it was sharing a warm cup of coffee, catching up with a neighbor, or offering a listening ear, Pearl had a way of making everyone feel important and cared for. She found joy in trailering with friends and family, sewing, attending Red Hat Society and Merry Mixer gatherings, and baking her world-famous chocolate chip cookies treats that were as beloved as the woman who made them.

Pearl is survived by her daughter Bonnie Filizetti-Hartzell of Gwinn, her son Roger (Deborah) Filizetti of Flower Mound, TX; her grandchildren Greg (Tami) Hartzell, Rick (Rhonda) Hartzell, Cortney (Nick) Wong, and Jimi Filizetti; her great-grandchildren Tiffany Loch, Corissa Hartzell, Autumn Jeffers, Marc Olson, AJ, Thea, and Ethan Wong; and great-great-grandchildren Carter, Max, Caleb, Harmony, and Logan. She is also survived by her brother John Filippi, her sister Helen Tompkins, granddaughter-in-law Stacy (Don) Linnee, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Julio, her son Anthony Filizetti, and her grandchildren Tony Filizetti and Thea Filizetti.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 27th at St. Anthony Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 1:00pm with Fr. Sebastian Oppong officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Gwinn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Pearl’s memory to UPAWS, the Gwinn Merry Mixers and/or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Pearl’s legacy of kindness, quiet strength, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
