Nancy Gordon

October 29, 1934 – May 10, 2025

TROY, MI-Nancy Gordon, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Troy, Michigan, at the age of 90.

Born in Marquette, Michigan, on October 29, 1934, Nancy was raised with a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula. She married her high school sweetheart, Merwyn ‘Buzz’ George Gordon, on November 7, 1952, after meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Nancy devoted her life to raising their four children – Sally (Terry) Hubley, Susan (Mike) Nason, Scott (Jill Webb) Gordon, and Steve (Gail Morrell) Gordon. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Megan (Andy) Humphrey, Kris (Sue) Hubley, Kim (Dan) Guest, Emily (Greg Cherry) Gordon, and Zachary (Sierra) Gordon; and a cherished great grandmother to Drew, Phoebe, and Hadley Humphrey; Lukas and Lily Hubley; and Lottie Guest.

A gifted artist, Nancy specialized in traditional Scandinavian folk art, adorning her treasured rustic cabin in Big Bay, Michigan, with her vibrant and heartfelt creations. Her art was not just decorative – it was a living expression of her heritage and the joy she found in simple beauty.

Nancy’s life was rich with love and dedication. She found happiness in the rhythms of family life – cooking, sewing, ice skating, and worshipping at the Presbyterian church in Big Bay. Summers spent at camp with Aunt Myrtle Jensen and Aunt Cora ‘Coco’ Marlowe were formative, and she passed on that sense of wonder and connection to the generations who followed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buzz Gordon; her parents, Cornelius Colonel and Anna Dorothea Weesen; her sister Joyce Sadoway; and her brothers, Richard, Colonel (Bud), and Arthur Weesen.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Darlene Zunich of Texas and sister-in-law Betty Gordon of Colorado.

Nancyás life was one of quiet strength, creative spirit, and enduring love. Her legacy lives on in the family she so dearly cherished, and the memories she gifted to all that knew her.

Their final resting place will be in Big Bay.
