Heather Bower

SANDS TWP, MI – Heather Kay Bower, age 53, of Sands Township, passed away on May 17, 2025, at her home. She was a vibrant and passionate woman whose nurturing spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Born on July 29, 1971 in Munising and raised in Orlando and Munising, the daughter of John and Karen (Johnson) Dominick, Heather received her diploma in 1988. She went on to receive her Nurses aid certification from Northern Michigan University. Heather began her career in healthcare, working at Beaumont and Providence Hospitals and the Michigan Ear Institute in the Howell area. Her dedication to caring for others extended beyond her professional life and was a constant in all she did.

Eventually returning to her hometown of Munising, Heather worked as a waitress and bartender, where her warmth, humor, and energy endeared her to everyone she met. On June 13, 2015, she married the love of her life, Arthur Bower, with whom she shared a deep bond and many cherished adventures.

Heather had a zest for life and a heart full of love. She found joy in simple pleasures such as riding on the back of Arthur’s Harley, camping under the stars, cheering on her boys at hockey games, and relaxing on the pontoon boat with family and friends. Her home was a haven, and she was lovingly known by many as the ‘neighborhood mom’.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Arthur; her children Jon (Shelby) Cook of Munising, Michigan, Alicia Cookson of Fowlerville Michigan, Miranda Bower of Munising, Michigan, Cheyenne Browning of Apopka, Florida, Andrew (Alyssa) Dominick of Howell, Michigan, and Joseph Bower of Munising Michigan; and her beloved grandchildren Lilly, Jace, Austin, Ryan, Daniel, Kinsley, and Grayson. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Karen and Joseph Case; her sister, Nichole (Stephen) Welters; and her stepmother, Beverly Dominick. Niece; Alyssa Welters, Nephew; Kyle Welters.

Heather was preceded in death by her father, John Dominick, and her brother, Jacob Dominick.
