Georgia Curry

LANSING, MI-Georgia Elin Curry was born on September 8, 1929, in Marquette, Michigan, to George and Teckla Anderson. She passed peacefully at the age of 95 on May 14, 2025.
A 1947 graduate of Baraga High School, Georgia had a lifelong love for music. She found joy in dancing, playing the piano, and attending performances ranging from bands to musical theater.
In 1958, Georgia married her soulmate, Robert ‘Bob’ Curry, with whom she shared a lifetime of adventure. The couple traveled extensively across the United States often in their own plane that Bob piloted. Their adventures continued abroad, including trips to Europe, Africa, and Iceland. As passionate birders, many of their journeys were planned around bird migrations, allowing them to witness birds in their natural habitats.
The Curry’s eventually settled in Lansing, Michigan, after living in Ann Arbor where Georgia worked for Pfizer. In Lansing, she served as an administrative assistant in the President’s Office at Lansing Community College for 11 years. Georgia and Bob retired on the same day, leading to many more travel adventures and regular hosting of friends and family.
Known for her warm hospitality, Georgia was a gracious hostess whose smile and sparkling personality drew people to her. She cherished her community and brought people together through dinners, cocktail hours, and gatherings. She was active in her dinner club, Scrabble groups, and the ‘Hood Pod’- a cherished circle of friends who enjoyed movie nights, dinners, and outings together.
Georgia was a dedicated volunteer, serving as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound for St. Gerard Catholic Church until January of this year and delivering for Meals on Wheels. She was a longtime docent at Potter Park Zoo and continued to show her love for animals by fostering kittens for the Capital Area Humane Society.
Georgia and Bob shared a deeply loving marriage until Bob’s passing in 2014. She is survived by extended family and a wide circle of friends who became like family.
Lansing-based services will be provided by Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral service at 9:30am, followed by mass at St. Gerard Catholic Church on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at 10:30am. A reception in the parish hall will follow. Marquette-based services will be provided by Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral Services. A graveside burial service will be held in Marquette at Park Lake Cemetery on May 22, 2025 at 11am, followed by a gathering to celebrate Georgia’s life at The Vierling.
In lieu of flowers, Georgia requested that contributions be made to the Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) and the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS).
