Carlotta Wojtyniak

TRENARY, MI-Carlotta ‘La’ M. Wojtyniak, age 74, of Trenary died Thursday morning, May 1, 2025 at her home under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice following a brief illness.
She was born on May 27, 1950 in Detroit to William ‘Dodie’ and June (Thompson) DiLaura. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Pershing High School. Carlotta married James S. Wojtyniak on February 7, 1970 and together had three daughters. While in Detroit, she was a Girls Scout Leader and drove school bus. In 1984, they wanted a change of pace from the city life and moved to the U.P. to their family camp on Cooks Lake and eventually made Trenary their home. Carlotta worked as a bartender, substitute bus driver, janitor, and as a delivery driver for the Trenary Home Bakery which was her favorite job. She volunteered with the Trenary Lions and Lioness Club where she was a part of the 4th of July festivities and Outhouse Classic. Carlotta also volunteered with the Feeding America food truck. She was active in the community, because in her time of need, Carlotta was surrounded, supported, and loved by Trenary. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the coffee klutch at the gas station to keep up on local news. Carlotta enjoyed creating diamond art, playing cards with family, Bingo, and taking trips to the casino. She collected Swarovski crystal animals and loved family time, feeding her birds, taking a sauna, and eating her favorite meal of steak and potatoes.
Carlotta is survived by her children Geri (John) Timonen, Nicole (Daniel) Maki, Kristy (Michael Gleason) Wojtyniak; âGiaã is survived by her grandchildren Kaitlin (Darion Zoromski) Timonen, Johnny Timonen, Matthew ‘Mutti’ Timonen, Sophia (Sam) Adams, James (Ava Walker) Maki, and Brent Wojtyniak; great-granddaughter Eleanor June Adams; brother William (Theresa) DiLaura; sister-in-law Ruth DiLaura; brother-in-law Jerome ‘Jerry’ (Kathleen) Malczynski; aunts Lois Hastings and Joann Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog Bear.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Luigi DiLaura.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Monday, May 5, 2025 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Carlotta’s funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will be at the Mathias
Township Cemetery in Trenary with a luncheon to follow at the Trenary Community Building.
