Ann Clement

HARVEY, MI – Ann Clement passed away peacefully following a battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, on May 13, 2025.
Fiercely independent, tough as nails, and abounding with kindness, Ann touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and love.
Ann was born October 11, 1936 in Marquette, Michigan. She spent her life in Marquette, where she married and started a family with Cletus Clement. After his passing in 1972, she raised their three children, Tim, Mark, and Sue, on her own, never remarrying.
Ann was a well-known fixture of her community. She worked for over 30 years at Marquette Catholic Credit Union, starting as a teller at the tiny first branch on Third Street and retiring in 2001 as the President of the credit union. She was a devoted member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey, where she volunteered in many capacities: as a member of the Women’s Club, participating in knitting circles, coordinating funeral meals, serving on the finance committee, and countless other contributions.
Following her retirement, Ann stayed busy with continued involvement in the church, spending time with her adult children, granddaughters and great-grandson. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and participating in activities with friends through the Chocolay Township Senior Center, Birthday Club, and other activities. In most recent years, Ann spent her winters on the Big Island of Hawaii, with family. She enjoyed the tropical weather and spent countless hours gardening and discovering all of the tropical plants Hawaii has to offer. She cherished time spent with family, especially her great-grandson, Jasper, who often said she was the silliest person in the family. She will be remembered as the strong and determined matriarch of her family, a woman who did everything with excellence and grace. Ann showered the world with love and kindness, and her memory will live on in all those who knew her.
Ann is preceded in death by her father and mother, Herbert and Elsie Witler, late husband, Cletus Clement, sons Mark and Tim Clement, and siblings Ruth Britton, Don Witler, and Larry Witler.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bryan Barber, granddaughters, Alyx Souza and Chrissy Barber, great-grandson, Jasper Souza, brother Pete Witler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cancer Care of Marquette County, P.O. Box 626, Ishpeming, MI 49849 (cancercaremqt.com).
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey on June 27, 2025, beginning at 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in Fr. Gauthier Hall. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
