Leslie Rose

MARQUETTE, MI – Leslie Jean Rose, age 50, of Marquette, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Born April 10, 1975, in Marquette, a daughter of Patrick and Norma (Ives) Miller, she was raised in Marquette where she graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1993. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development. Putting her degree to good use, Leslie owned and operated her own daycare out of her home. She was also employed for a time at Cal’s Party Store. In 2012, Leslie became employed with the YMCA as a lead teacher in the K.I. Sawyer area. She later became the director of the entire childhood development program for the Marquette and K.I. Sawyer programs.

To Leslie, family was her first priority. She managed to balance her roles of wife, mother, and homemaker with the demands of working. In her younger years, she developed a love of music and was self-taught in being able to play the guitar, piano, and clarinet. She was an accomplished musician and even played bass in a band. She simply loved music and knew the words to every song. For 13 years, Leslie served as a Girl Scout leader, helping to inspire values and leadership qualities in many young girls. At home, she was a wonderful, loving mother who loved going to concerts, going for side-by-side rides, and spending time and fun with her cousins at the camp in Little Lake.

Leslie is survived by her husband, Casey Rose of Marquette; her children, McKenzie (Jack) Eyler of Gwinn and Riley DesJardins of Marquette; her bonus children, Cody DesJardins of Minnesota, Haley LaLande of Gwinn, and Kyle Rose of Marquette; her grandchildren, Parker Eyler and Greyson Hitchens; her parents, Pat and Norma Miller of Marquette; a sister, Christy (Clark) Belmore of Gwinn; her sister-in-law, Carrie (Dan) Audette of Marquette; nieces, Kaylee Belmore and Kourtney Belmore; and nephews, Logan and Brady Audette; her mother-in-law, Valerie Rose and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Abigail DesJardins; her grandparents and her father-in-law, Carl Rose.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday, April 26, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. This will be an informal time for the sharing of memories, conversation, and food.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the YMCA (ymcamqt.org).
