Blaine Arbelius

MARQUETTE, MI- Blaine Lee Arbelius, 81, of Marquette, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025 at UPHS Marquette surrounded by his loving family.

Blaine was born April 15, 1943 in Ishpeming to Walfred and Marie (Antilla) Arbelius, grew up in Palmer and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1961. Blaine lived a life marked by dedication to his family and service to his country.

A proud veteran of the United States military, Blaine served with honor and distinction in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. His commitment to duty instilled in him values that he carried throughout his life–integrity, resilience, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. After returning from service, he channeled these principles into every aspect of his life. He retired from American Eagle as an Avionics Supervisor after 20 years of service.

Blaine was married to Deborah (Valella) for over four decades. Together they raised five sons. As a father figure who led by example rather than words alone; Blaine taught them the importance of hard work while also encouraging their dreams. Anytime family and friends would gather, Blaine would often be the center of attention with his jokes and quick wits. He made sure everyone was laughing.

In addition to being a loving family man, he was also passionate about fast sports cars and enjoyed going to car shows.

He is survived by his wife Deborah; sons: Barry (Ashley), Ron (Donna), James, Christopher (Jodi); 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother William (Pat); several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded by his parents; his son, Douglas; and grandson, Clint.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-5 pm on Wednesday, January 22nd at Koskey Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. Blaine’s memorial page may be viewed at koskeyfuneralhome.com.
